How appropriate would it be to develop each of the following options along Newcastle’s Harbour: a good quality residential development; a good quality commercial development; a good quality retail development; and a publicly owned Foreshore Walkway?

• The most popular choice was a publicly owned foreshore walkway, with 83% of respondents indicating it would be a very appropriate development option. A good quality retail development was the most likely of other options to gain community support with nearly one-third (32%) stating it would be very appropriate.

• On average, respondents rated good quality residential and commercial development as slightly to moderately appropriate.

The community is very supportive of a publicly owned foreshore walkway, followed by retail, then residential and commercial development.
