Grant Funding

In 1992 Newcastle received grant funding of $71 million through the joint Federal and State Government Building Better Cities program. The majority of this funding was dedicated to projects on the Honeysuckle site. Honeysuckle Development Corporation also received $29 million from the NSW State Government.

How the $100 million was invested

In 1997 grant funding ended. Since then the Corporation has been self-funded through land sales. It has continued to invest in community works which become community assets for the people of Newcastle.

To date the Corporation has invested $92 million in community works including roads and services, public domain, seawall repair and car parking.
