The Hunter Development Corporation, formerly Honeysuckle Development Corporation, established in 1992, is a NSW State Government organisation responsible for one of Australia’s largest urban renewal projects. It is redeveloping 50 hectares of derelict land and buildings along Newcastle Harbour, adjacent to the CBD.
The Honeysuckle project is contributing to the revitalisation of the City of Newcastle by creating jobs, stimulating investment and attracting people to the city, in addition to the Honeysuckle project, the Corporation has a charter to undertake projects across the Hunter region including:
- Intertrade Industrial Park (Mayfield);
- Kooragang Island;
- Tomago;
- West Wallsend;
- Broadmeadow Sports and Entertainment Precinct.
